Activities
The mission of this grant proposal is to convert the current technology education lab at Evans High school in to a video broadcasting lab. We would also like to have all of the equipment and curriculum that is required of a video broadcasting lab within the three year timeline. After the completion of the three year grant money disbursement, we hope to have all video broadcasting pathway classes filled with students. In order to convert the current technology lab in to a video broadcasting lab, we are asking for $100,000 that will be spent on Sony video broadcasting equipment as well as curriculum that is aligned with the state of Georgia’s standards in video broadcasting. In order to have all equipment and curriculum within three years, the timeline for the grant must be followed exactly. If these objectives are effectively carried out, the last objective of filling the pathway with students should be attainable.

Timeline
The grant activities will take place over a span of three years. Year one of the grant will focus on curriculum, professional development, and buying about one-third of the equipment required for the broadcasting lab. The remainder of the grant money will be dispersed evenly over the final two years. It will be spent on equipment and professional development in the second and third year. The grant will affect the video broadcasting teacher, as well as approximately 125 students at Evans High School. We will judge the effectiveness of the grant by comparing the students understandings based on the state and national standards in the field of video broadcasting. Success can also be measured by the number of students enrolled in the video broadcasting courses, as well as the number of video broadcasting pathway completers at Evans High School.

Evaluation Plan
The grant objectives will be measured by comparing students’ understandings to state and national standards in video broadcasting. The students needs will be met by offering the required courses to complete a pathway in video broadcasting. Student will be given formative assessments such as class projects, individual projects and the completion of a class broadcast. The students will be given summative assessments such as end of chapter tests, nine weeks tests and end of course tests (EOCT.) This data will be analyzed throughout the school year and, future assessments will be based on the data that is compiled from the classes. The data will be analyzed by the video broadcast teacher, Mr. Kicklighter. Mr. Kicklighter is currently the schools technology teacher but, he is also certified to teach video broadcasting as well as communications course.

Budget
We are asking for a budget of $100,000 from Sony Corporation of America. This budget will be used for equipment, curriculum and professional development over a span of three years. The funding will be monitored by the Columbia County Board of Education, as well as the Career Tech department at Evans High School. Mrs. Beverly Bibee, the Career Tech secretary at Evans High School will keep up with the day to day expenditures of the grant. The expenditures will also be monitored by bookkeepers at the Columbia County Board of Education. The requested funding is heavily weighted towards the purchase of equipment over the three years. Adequate amounts of money are also allocated for curriculum and professional learning.
